Chicago - Day 1 - Picnic

Ok, I am starting to get emails, phone calls and harassing remarks. I need to update the blog! Sorry!

Chicago was fabulous! We split our time between mom and dad’s house in the ‘burbs and their condo downtown on Michigan Avenue. It was nice to be home and see everyone!

Day one was our annual Hill Picnic. I can’t remember how many of them we’ve had….but I know we at least go back 17 years. This years theme was “Pirates of the Hill-ibbean!” We had a great time and there were lots of pirates in the crowd! I think all but 5 of us were there. Here are a few photos:

More to come…….stay tuned!  (I promise!)

Please stand by…

Ten days away…ok, I have been back from my trip to IL for 28 hours now…… but give me a bit more time to get settled!

I have oodles of laundry to do, tons of mail to go through, grocery shopping to do, friends to call, play dates to set up, thank you cards to send out, a crawl space I need to go through for the upcoming annual garage sale, gardens to weed (Mom, I did buy Preen today!), pictures to download, bills to pay, and the list goes on…..

I will be back….soon! I promise!

Black Cloud….be gone…..for good!

Ok, I have felt like for almost the past year now I have had this black cloud following me where ever I go. I have felt like a gloomy, pessimistic bitch - angry at the world. As of today……NO MORE! Black cloud, be gone!

So, from now on…

Yes, I miss my mother-in-law. Yes, she was taken from us too soon. I know she watches out for us…

Yes, I miss my uncle Matt. He too was taken too soon. The Hill Picnic will be so different without him tomorrow, but I know he’ll be there in spirit.

Yes, it kills me to be so far away from my family…especially now that I have Punky.  But I need to be thankful for all the time we do see each other! I know people who goes YEARS without seeing their families! We do see each other quite a bit and we talk almost daily! :)

Yes, I miss being pregnant and I miss my little bean, BUT I will get pregnant again…..and life will and does go on!

Yes, summer is flying by……….and yes, I will have to return to work…..but that’s OK! It’s good for Punky to be back in daycare with all of his friends.

Yes, I am so happy for my sister. Her little guy is due in November….and I can’t wait to meet him! :)

Yes, I feel overwhelmed with all I want to get done around here, but there will ALWAYS be something to do, and you can’t EVER be done…….so baby steps….

So, off I go to pack up for my trip to Chicago for 10 days. I AM SO EXCITED TO BE WITH MY FAMILY! :) So, Black cloud…..be gone! The old Melissa is BACK…..for good! AMEN!

Tee Ball

Tonight we went to go watch Corey, Punky’s friend, play Tee ball (he’s in the league for 4 and 5 year olds).   It was so fun to watch these little guys and girls bat, run around the bases, and try to catch and throw the ball!   It was so cute!   Hubby took a few pictures of the game in action….

Punky and Da-Da

Punky and Da-Da

I love to watch my guys outside while I am in the kitchen cooking dinner. Punky just adores Da-da and gets SO EXCITED when they play out in the yard. He gets even more excited when he gets to help Da-da in the vegetable garden or with watering the vegetable garden. I love hearing the squeals of laughter, the giggles and the shouts of excitement! This has turned into my favorite time of each day…

While we up north this weekend at my FIL’s cousin reunion, Punky and Da-Da took a ride in a paddle boat. It was so cute. Hubby paddled while Punky steered! He had a blast! Here are some pics:

Seeing Double

The media hyped up HUIGE storms for our area on Friday night…. watches, warnings, beepings on the TV and radio….. and then it pittered out before it hit the metro area, so We had a thunderstorm Friday evening….a normal thunderstorm.   The sky was a bit dark, but as it rained the sun came out, and we had 2 rainbows to watch behind our house.  It was very pretty!

Three Amigas

Punky and I drove down to Iowa City last week to have a mini-reunion with the best friends from high school. Leah grew up 3 houses away from me back in IL, but now lives in Iowa City. Darci was in the States visiting her family who also lives near Iowa City, so I thought we’d better take advantage of this isnce the last time the three of us where together was my wedding……5 years ago this summer!
